T-Mobile USA launches Dash 3G

San Francisco, June 18:T-Mobile USA, Inc. (NYSE: DT) announced on Wednesday that a Dash 3G would become available for the masses in July. The new handset, a take on the HTC Snap, is offering users a balance of personal and professional connections in a new sleek design.

“HTC is designing products like the T-Mobile Dash 3G to appeal to the ever-growing number of customers who are using the empowering features of smartphones to benefit their busy lives,” said Jason Mackenzie, vice president, HTC America. “HTC is pleased to continue its long history of working closely with T-Mobile as we today introduce the next generation of the popular T-Mobile Dash.”

Features of Dash 3G
T-Mobile said the Dash 3G was designed by Taiwan-based HTC in a tablet shape with 2.4 inch QVGA display. It will run on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.1 and feature a full QWERTY keyboard and trackball, Wi-Fi connectivity and 65K-color TFT display.

It is going to offer voice calling, instant messaging, support for personal and business email, GPS for location-based services and synchronization with Microsoft Outlook. It will have a web browser, plus an audio and video player.
The T-Mobile Dash 3G will be available in a glossy-black finish with red accents.

“As millions of families prepare to hit the road this summer, T-Mobile is offering our first 3G-enabled Windows Mobile smartphone to help customers stay connected, organized and traveling in the right direction,” said Travis Warren, director, product marketing, T-Mobile USA.

He added, “We’re excited to offer the power and style of the T-Mobile Dash 3G with high-speed Internet access thanks to T-Mobile’s rapidly expanding 3G network.”

Pricing and availability
The T-Mobile Dash 3G is expected to be available nationwide at the company’s retail stores, select authorized dealers as well as online, on the operator’s site. However, no specific details on the pricing of the smartphone were revealed.

The company said that they are also going to unveil their future Android models next month.
