It has been revealed that Microsoft have dropped the 720p resolution requirement for its Xbox 360console. Thats according to Black Rock’s technical director David Jefferies who has been talking about the subject in a recent interview.

As reported from Eurogamer, Jefferies has stated that the reason for the drop is due to TV manufacturers such as Sony, Samsung, LG and Philips equipping 720p LCD TVs with resolutions of 1366×768 rather than true 1280×720. What this means is that the image will be upscaled no matter what, using TV hardware.

In relation to the Xbox 360, developers such as Black Rock Studios are no longer required to stick to the 720p requirement, meaning they can add more graphical features such as extra anti-aliasing by using a slightly lower resolution.

Jefferies added: “Now we are free to make the trade-off between resolution and image quality as we see fit,”

Square-Enix have revealed that that the company are considering releasing DLC for future FinalFantasy titles, but there are no plans for extra content for the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII, which will be released in Japan on PS3 before the end of the year.

Square’s Yoshi Kitase and Motomu Toriyama made the comments to VG247, during GamesCom 2009. Both of them also said that they are listening to their fans in Europe and North America, and are aware that DLC content is something that everyone wants.

If DLC does happen to be released along the way for Final Fantasy XIII, you can expect it to be item-or enemy based, and not a major update that would tie into the story.

When it comes to cool gaming desktop accessories Cyber Snipa know how to make them, the photo shows a Gamepad v2, Stinger Laser gaming mouse and Tracer backlit mouse mat.

This setup will certainly help increase your frag count, CyberSnipa have delivered with this sweet setup, this is serious gaming business all round.

Tweak Town have given these CyberSnipa gaming gadgets a hands-on over 5 pages and in their final thoughts they said:

Mouse Mat and Final Thoughts – The Final part to this tri-force of gaming accessories is the mouse mat and Cyber Snipa has produced a rather colorful one at that.

Cyber Snipa PWNAGE Desktop – The micro-textured surface is inlayed on a clear Perspex frame with non-slip rubber feet underneath.

The trick with this is a USB cable snaking its way out the back that powers a set of blue LEDs that make the mat glow around the edges and generally look sweet.

Cyber Snipa PWNAGE Desktop – The LED brightness can be adjusted using an inline variable resistor that will dim the lights completely off.

The only bad thing I have to say about the mouse mat is that the USB cable is not detachable from the unit, so even if you don’t have a USB plug handy to plug it into, you still have a cable trailing over your desktop.

Cyber Snipa PWNAGE Desktop – Looking at the setup overall; I think Cyber Snipa are on to something good here. The dwarf keyboard is great for hardcore gamers and the mouse is a serious contender for anyone who needs a laser mouse. Coupled with a mouse mat that keeps the mouse gliding smooth, there’s no way you can lose, unless of course you’re like me and suck at games.

Just what can Corsair’s 4GB DDR3 kit do and can this memory give you the performance you’re looking for? Well the short answer is yes with size; performance and overclocking are all in abundance.

The Corsair XMS3 DHX 1600MHz 4GB Memory Kit has been given a hands-on review by Tweak Town; in their final thoughts they said “Corsair has been one of the biggest overclocking memory companies for nearly eight years now.

In fact, it may be longer as Corsair memory was some of the highest clocking back when PC-133 memory for the 440BX chipset was around, allowing bus speeds to 150MHz. What an achievement that was. Moving into the 21st century, Corsair still holds its own.

The XMS series of memory is the cream of the crop; hand picked and designed to overclock for the enthusiasts. You’re going to be hard pressed for find a better module, XMS3 continues this tradition.

The larger size, while not showing a huge benefit today in our gaming tests, it really does help Windows XP multi-task. While only 3.5GB of it was used under our 32-bit OS, it still loaded the games up slightly quicker than the 2GB setup, and for 64-bit OS users, you will get the full benefit”.

This is some news that has affected myself and also a few other people that I know, lets find out if its just a small number of people or a much wider issue with the Playstation 3.

Since updating to firmware 2.41 from 2.40, my Sony PS3 crashes a lot and this has happened in games like Call of Duty 4 (as reported before). At first I felt this may be an issue with COD4 and the recent firmware, but after hearing from others having crashes with COD4 it may not be the case.

Recently the hard drive needed restoring as the PS3 would not even boot up, as the settings were back up to an external hard drive, this process was painless.

After the problem with the hard drive, we are thinking that this could be an issue with the hard drive being damaged in some way and I have heard of this before.

Has your hard drive ever packed up on your Sony PS3?

The good thing with the Sony PS3 is the hard drive; it’s really easy to just slip another much larger drive in. Many gamers have installed drives of 250GB into their PS3 and receive the benefits of a much larger hard drive.

With the movie download service launching for the PS3, it is time to upgrade our PS3 drives to have all this content stored internally thanks to a larger drive.
