AT&T’s satellite phone, through a partnership with TerreStar, will be coming closer to fruition. The phone will be the first Windows Mobile satellite phone, which is said to be capable of receiving 3G speeds while on AT&T’s cellular network or on TerreStar’s satellite network for data. While satellite will provide more pervasive reception, even in areas where cell signal could not be obtained, the service will be expensive when launched. It is expected that users will pay a $1 per minute roaming fee when hopping onto TerreStar’s network. No pricing for data roaming yet.
